Stranded in South America, Successful Illinois workshop! | Aug 05th

Well let me start off by saying that I am not totally stranded at all in South America, that’s kind of misleading. I AM in Colombia but just staying over night at the airport waiting for a connecting flight. I am teaching a small photography workshop here in the next few days and travelling around afterwards. It’s going to be very cool. The only working plug for my macbook I found in the airport out here is in the middle of the floor but I’m content because I still have my little blue blankey from the plane. (see macbook webcam picture)

On the way here my plane flew through a lightning storm (very cool visuals by the way) and it made me come to the bone chilling realization that I should update my blog more! You know, in case I crash next time or something. Havn’t been home in awhile between Florida (was shooting a Hurley advertisement) Illinois and now here. Oh and in other news be sure to check out the September cover of Alternative Press magazine. I may or may not have done a shoot with Everytime I Die…. Details to come later.

So anywho, the other workshop in Illinois the other day went very well. I was very happy to see people from around the USA show up in the little American town Morton to see me. Thanks for coming out, ya’ll. I went over some light setups I use with EX flashes at a warehouse location, some ghetto do-it-yourself modifications and of course photoshop techniques afterwards at the Haven studio. I was right in guestimating about ‘the anonymous babe’ found for me (see an earlier post) who was going to be the model for the day, props to Danni! I was worried because I was really sick the couple days before the workshop, some people attending had met me during this period and my voice sounded something between that movie preview announcer guy and gollum. (So scientifically I sounded like a Lord of the Rings preview set to shuffle.)

I don’t have any pictures from the workshop on my laptop and it’s going to be awhile before I’m home so if you’re reading this and you were there joey@joeyL.com it! Behind the scenes stuff is what I’m looking for, especially that shot of me sitting on the little plastic toliet. (This is an inside joke, you’ll have to attend one of my workshops to have similar experiences!)

I better go now because the guy polishing the floor wants to clean my spot. He’s getting a little closer every minute and circling me like prey shark-style.
