Abyssinia in Eyemazing magazine and PDN + Tweet | May 25th
I am typing from an airplane somewhere between Los Angeles and New York. It has wifi they overcharge you for. I am flying back to my Brooklyn pad from a shoot I did here for the hilarious show “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.” They sent me a DVD before the shoot to watch a few episodes then I ended up watching the whole season. Now that the shoot is over, all I can say are good things about everyone in the production team and cast. I’m honored to have a totally badass station like the FX network as a client. I’ll have more info on that shoot later.
As you may have noticed, the GPS on my website is totally bogus, and it is really me who updates it manually all along. Strapping a real GPS on myself is scary, and reminds me of RFID-chips. My faux GPS is a great tool for letting clients and mothers know where I am, but also can lie quite a bit… both to my benefit and fault. I had forgotton my Macbook charger in a frantic rush to the airport and didn’t check a single e-mail all weekend. Apparently, I was still in New York, leading to panic and confusion. I did manage to remember my toothbrush, which is not nearly as useful.
My friend Cale Glendening has persuaded me to get a Twitter account. I made one just to make him happy, and refuse to admit it’s cool. This is my fault and I am protecting my ego- I don’t know how to use it yet. I’m old fashioned when it comes to keeping a facebook and myspace. I don’t really fully understand how everything works and would rather just call or talk to someone instead of texting. Karl E. Johnson wrote an essay on my latest Abyssinia series for Eyemazing magazine. Usually I am never happy with any articles written about me that describe my work or my thought process, but I am completely in appreciation of the article. I believe the essay fully grasps exactly what I set out to do in Ethiopia, and I owe a lot to the writer who has read my entire novel-of-a-blog-post several times. Some images from the series is also running in PDN’s “Photo-Annual” issue. You can pick up copies of both at your local shop… (Or you could just go on my site and view the images for free.)

I like that you capture all different types of people from all over the world. When i have enough time and money, I'd love more than anything to travel and see them with my own eyes.
